Hsu PoCheng and Chan PeiWei Crowned Champions

Taiwanese Players Sweep the Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship Taiwan Qualifier

The final round of the “2026 Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship Taiwan Qualifier – Spring” concluded successfully today (March 13) at National Golf Country Club. After completing 54 holes in chilly conditions and strong winds, Taiwanese players claimed all ten championship titles across both boys’ and girls’ divisions.

Hsu PoCheng, who led the Boys’ 15–18 division after the first two rounds, posted his highest score of the tournament with a 76 (+4) in the final round. Nevertheless, he secured the title with a threeround total of 221 (727376). Chan PeiWei, who shared the lead in the Girls’ 15–18 division yesterday, delivered the only underpar round among all female players today with a 71 (1), finishing at 221 (807071) to claim the championship.

Champions by Division

  • Boys 13–14: Luo ShouWei (737677)
  • Boys 11–12: Lee ChenRui (767577)
  • Boys 9–10: Chien KunYou (737279)
  • Boys 7–8: Hsu DeEn (808272)
  • Girls 13–14: Cheng YiHsin (787672)
  • Girls 11–12: Wu HsinYing (908672)
  • Girls 9–10: Tseng TzuChi (858081)
  • Girls 7–8: Chang YenChi (808079)

All ten division champions have earned qualification spots for the 2026 Uswing Mojing Junior World Championship and will travel to San Diego, USA, in early July to compete against top junior golfers from around the world.

Challenging Conditions Test the Field

Despite sunny skies, cold temperatures and strong winds continued to challenge players. Greens, exposed to three consecutive days of sunshine and wind, became increasingly firm and fast, leading to many missed putts.

Starting the day with a fourstroke lead, Hsu PoCheng struggled on the greens but maintained control as his closest challenger, Chang ChinChia, failed to capitalize. Local player Yu HungYu rebounded with an impressive 71 (1), but earlier putting woes left him three strokes short at 224.

Hsu admitted that while his driving was acceptable, his iron play, short game, and putting were poor. Difficult pin positions, steep slopes, and strong winds made it hard to stop the ball near the hole, often resulting in threeputts. Despite recording three birdies, seven bogeys left room for improvement. Having previously competed twice in the Uswing Junior World Championship—finishing seventh once—Hsu said that if he returns to San Diego this year, his goal is a top ten finish.

Other Division Highlights

In the Boys’ 13–14 division, Luo ShouWei maintained his lead throughout the tournament. Despite carding a finalround 77, he won comfortably by eight strokes with a total of 226. Luo noted that while his long game and short game were strong, his putting let him down with 37 putts.

The Girls’ 15–18 division once again featured a headtohead battle. Chan PeiWei and Wu Shuang were tied after the first nine holes, but Chan surged ahead with backtoback birdies on holes 2 and 3, eventually winning by six strokes. Chan said inconsistent winds made club selection difficult, but she was pleased with how she held her game together on the back nine. After early struggles in previous events, she was delighted to see improvements following adjustments with her coach.

In the Girls’ 13–14 division, Cheng YiHsin pulled away after the turn with a flawless back nine of 35 (one birdie, no bogeys), posting a tournamentbest 72 and winning by seven strokes. She credited improved driving and short game for her performance, saying the victory helped rebuild her confidence.

Awards Ceremony and Closing Remarks

Following the competition, an awards banquet was held at the Four Seasons Hall on the second floor of the clubhouse. Roy Wu, General Manager of National Garden Country Club and Chairman of the Future Stars Association, noted that the Uswing Taiwan Qualifier marked the association’s first international tournament—an important milestone. He thanked overseas players and parents for traveling to Taiwan and congratulated all qualifiers heading to the United States, while reminding players that passion for golf matters most, regardless of results.

In addition to the ten Uswing Mojing qualification titles, awards were also presented for the Future Stars Series rankings and special achievements. Winners included seasonal rankings, longest drive awards, most birdies, daily low rounds, and coveted professional tournament wildcard entries. Selected players will have the opportunity to compete in upcoming TPGA and TLPGA events alongside professional golfers.
